Our worship might be described
as informal Anglican. We try to express it in a way that is simple,
understandable and relevant to life in today’s world. We are seeking to be
a community of all ages committed to serving God and believe that our
worship should reflect this desire.
Our Sunday services begin at
10 am but there is space for informal prayer and worship from 9-30 am.
Personal prayer is offered during each of our times of worship. Children’s
church and creche are held at every service except in school holidays.
After each time of worship we
meet over tea and coffee. In addition we have breakfast together before
morning worship on four to six occasions during the year.
Monthly
pattern of Sunday worship at St. Thomas’s
1st & 3rd Sundays - Holy
Communion
Taken broadly from Common
Worship, this service tends to be more structured than our non-communion
services.
2nd & 4th Sundays -
Morning Worship
These services have a more
flexible structure that aims to be accessible to people of different
worship backgrounds and experience.
5th Sundays - Songs of praise
Members of the Church are
invited to choose a hymn or worship song. The service is supplemented by
reflections based on the Bible, the words of the chosen hymns and songs and
personal stories relating to them.
Monthly
pattern of midweek worship
2nd and 4th
Tuesdays – Holy Communion
Common Worship Communion
service without music.
These patterns of worship may
be subject to alteration at times of major festivals such as Christmas and
Easter.
